In Alur, Karnataka, on September 16th, Arjun Tendulkar showcased his prowess on the cricket field, setting a high bar for the upcoming first-class season. In a phenomenal display of skill, Tendulkar secured a nine-wicket haul, leading Goa to an emphatic innings and 189-run victory over the host team Karnataka in the Dr. (Capt) K Thimmappiah Memorial Tournament, also recognized as the KSCA Invitational. This tournament serves as a pre-season preparatory event for state teams, offering a crucial platform for players to refine their skills.
The KSCA XI team was primarily composed of under-19 and under-23 players, with only two established cricketers—Nikin Jose and wicketkeeper Sharath Srinivas—adding experience to the lineup.
Arjun Tendulkar, son of the legendary Sachin Tendulkar, delivered a stellar performance with match figures of 9 wickets for 87 runs across 26.3 overs spanning two innings. In the first innings, Karnataka’s batting lineup crumbled under pressure, managing only 103 runs in 36.5 overs. Tendulkar junior was instrumental in this collapse, claiming 5 wickets for 41 runs in his 13-over spell.
Goa capitalized on this advantage, posting an imposing total of 413 runs in their first innings. The charge was led by Abhinav Tejrana, who scored a century with 109 runs, supported by Manthan Khutkar’s valuable contribution of 69 runs.
In their second innings, KSCA XI showed slight improvement but still fell short, being bowled out for 121 runs in 30.4 overs. Arjun Tendulkar continued his exceptional form, taking 4 wickets for 46 runs in 13.3 overs.
As Arjun Tendulkar approaches his 25th birthday next week, he can reflect on an impressive career so far. Having played 49 competitive games across three formats at the senior level, he has accumulated 68 wickets. Specifically, in his 13 first-class matches, he has taken a total of 21 wickets.
This recent performance not only highlights Arjun Tendulkar’s growing capabilities but also sets the stage for what promises to be an exciting first-class season ahead.
