In the picturesque town of Alur, the cricketing legacy of Sachin Tendulkar continues through his son, Arjun Tendulkar. Preparing diligently for the upcoming domestic season, Arjun showcased his impressive bowling skills with a stunning nine-wicket haul, leading Goa to a commanding victory over Karnataka by an innings and 189 runs in the prestigious Dr (Capt) K Thimmappiah Memorial Tournament, also known as the KSCA Invitational.
Arjun’s bowling figures were exceptional, finishing with a combined total of 9 wickets for 87 runs across 26.3 overs in two innings. In Karnataka’s first innings, they struggled against his pace and precision, collapsing for a mere 103 runs in 36.5 overs. Arjun was instrumental in this downfall, claiming 5 wickets for just 41 runs in his 13 overs. Goa capitalized on this opportunity, posting an imposing total of 413 runs, thanks to notable contributions from Abhinav Tejrana, who scored a century with 109 runs, and Manthan Khutkar, who added a valuable 69 runs.
The KSCA XI team primarily comprised young talent from their Under-19 and Under-23 squads, with only two seasoned players, Nikin Jose and wicketkeeper Sharath Srinivas, included in the lineup. Despite their efforts, the second innings saw a marginal improvement but still ended in disappointment. They were bowled out for 121 runs in 30.4 overs, with Arjun once again leading the charge by taking 4 wickets for 46 runs in his 13.3 overs.
As Arjun approaches his 25th birthday next week, his cricketing journey continues to build momentum. Having played 49 competitive matches across three formats at the senior level, he has already amassed 68 wickets. In the realm of first-class cricket, Arjun has participated in 13 games and secured 21 wickets, demonstrating his potential to follow in his father’s illustrious footsteps.
