New Delhi: In a thrilling display of cricketing prowess, India A’s allrounder Shams Mulani delivered a standout performance in the Duleep Trophy 2024 match against India D. At the Rural Development Trust Stadium in Anantapur, Mulani showcased his skill by taking two crucial wickets, including those of India D’s captain Shreyas Iyer and the formidable Sanju Samson. Earlier in the match, Mulani had also dismissed Devdutt Padikkal, further cementing his impact on the game. The 27-year-old spinner baffled Iyer and Padikkal with his deliveries, while Samson was caught behind by wicketkeeper Kushagra. Mulani’s all-round performance with both bat and ball earned him accolades from spectators and analysts alike.

India A clinched a decisive victory over India D on September 15, despite a resilient century by Ricky Bhui. Under the leadership of Shreyas Iyer, India A rebounded from their earlier defeat to India B with exceptional performances from their batting and bowling units. The team’s collective effort resulted in a commanding win that underscored their dominance.

In their final innings, India D faced a daunting target of 488 runs but were all out for 301. Ricky Bhui stood out with a valiant 113 off 195 balls, yet he found little support from his teammates. The lack of significant partnerships and frequent dismissals plagued India D’s batting lineup, preventing them from gaining any substantial momentum.

The bowling attack of India A was spearheaded by Shams Mulani and Tanush Kotian, whose efforts were pivotal in dismantling India D’s batting order. Mulani’s remarkable spell of 4/33, combined with Kotian’s 4/73, effectively neutralized the opposition’s middle and lower order, securing the 186-run victory for India A. Mulani’s bowling excellence was complemented by his earlier contributions with the bat, solidifying his status as the Player of the Match.

Earlier in the encounter, India A had established a formidable total, thanks in large part to Pratham Singh and Tilak Varma. Singh’s impressive innings of 112 off 189 balls and Varma’s unbeaten 111 off 193 deliveries laid a solid foundation for India D’s challenging chase. Despite Bhui’s determined century, India D fell significantly short of the target due to the relentless pressure exerted by India A’s bowlers.

Mulani’s performance was further highlighted by a video shared on X (formerly Twitter), capturing the moments he secured his two key wickets. This match not only demonstrated Mulani’s prowess but also underscored the depth and talent present in India A’s squad as they continue their pursuit of excellence in domestic cricket.
