Margao (Goa) [India], September 17 (ANI): In an exhilarating start to their Indian Super League (ISL) 2024-25 campaign, Jamshedpur FC staged a remarkable comeback to clinch a victory against FC Goa at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Goa on Tuesday. The match saw Jamshedpur trailing 1-0 until the 74th minute, but late goals from Javier Siverio and Jordan Murray turned the tide, ensuring the Men of Steel walked away with three crucial points on the road. While their forwards delivered when it mattered most, it was Jamshedpur FC’s goalkeeper, Albino Gomes, who laid the foundation for their competitiveness with his stellar performance from the outset.
FC Goa’s dynamic duo, Armando Sadiku and Carl McHugh, repeatedly tested Gomes with long-range shots in both halves. Leveraging his tall frame and sharp reflexes, Gomes rose to the challenge, denying them with a series of crucial saves that kept Jamshedpur in the hunt.

The breakthrough for FC Goa came just before halftime. Midfielder Rowllin Borges made a penetrating run forward and delivered a precise pass to Sadiku with mere seconds remaining in the first half. Seizing the moment, Sadiku unleashed a powerful strike that left Gomes with no chance, putting FC Goa ahead as the halftime whistle blew.
As the game entered its final half-hour, Jamshedpur FC ramped up their intensity. In the 74th minute, Siverio earned a penalty after being fouled by Onei Onaindia inside the 18-yard box. Demonstrating composure under pressure, Siverio converted the spot-kick to level the score at 1-1.
Rather than settling for a draw, Jamshedpur FC’s head coach Khalid Jamil opted for an aggressive strategy, continuously pressing FC Goa’s defense. This offensive approach paid dividends in the dying moments of the game. Mobashir Rahman executed a perfectly timed lob to Murray on the left flank. Displaying exceptional skill, Murray controlled the ball with a deft first touch, cut inside, and moved just outside the box.

Trusting his instincts, Murray decided against passing and instead aimed a powerful shot at the near post. The ball ricocheted off the post and into the net in the 93rd minute, sealing a dramatic win for Jamshedpur FC.
This thrilling comeback not only highlights Jamshedpur FC’s resilience but also sets a high bar for their performance in the ISL season ahead. (ANI)
