Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], August 31 (ANI): Saturday brought a wave of nostalgia for fans of the iconic film ‘Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein’ (RHTDM) as the beloved actors R Madhavan and Dia Mirza engaged in a special Instagram live session to celebrate the film’s re-release.
During this heartfelt virtual chat, the duo delved into their memorable experiences while working on ‘RHTDM’, a film that marked their Bollywood debut. They shared behind-the-scenes stories and reflected on the impact the movie has had over the years.
Dia Mirza reminisced about the grueling yet exhilarating shooting schedule. “We were constantly traveling, often for 14-18 hours at a stretch, moving from one location to another. We would catch up on sleep during flights. The film was shot in various locations including South Africa, New Zealand, Australia, and Mumbai. Interestingly, the release date was announced even before we completed our hectic shooting schedule,” she recalled.
She fondly remembered how Madhavan had an instinctive belief that the film would resonate with audiences, a prediction that came true despite its initial lukewarm reception.
Fans were highly engaged during the interaction, posting numerous comments and questions. When asked about the possibility of a ‘Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein’ sequel, Dia Mirza humorously questioned, “Kaun Banayga?”
Madhavan responded with candid concern, “Yaar, the fear is that we must make it better than the original. Otherwise, we’ll face a lot of backlash.”
‘RHTDM’, released in 2001, is a romantic drama directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon and is a Hindi remake of his Tamil film ‘Minnale’, which was released the same year. The film also starred Saif Ali Khan in a pivotal role.
A few years ago, there were rumors circulating about the potential production of a sequel. In 2020, Madhavan took to Twitter to dispel these rumors, stating that he had no knowledge of any plans for a sequel to the cherished love saga. “Guys, I’ve been reading rumors about the sequel and hoping it’s true because I have no idea about this,” he tweeted.
In his tweet, he also joked about the age factor, mentioning that both he and Dia Mirza are significantly older now compared to when they first starred in ‘RHTDM’. He expressed his hope that if there ever was a sequel, it would feature an “age-appropriate” script for them. “Just praying that someone somewhere has an age-appropriate script for Dia and me—otherwise playing Madhav Shastri now would be like trying to dress an elephant in shorts,” his post humorously read.
The nostalgic discussion underscored the lasting legacy of ‘Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein’ and its enduring connection with fans, highlighting its status as a timeless romantic classic in Bollywood’s rich cinematic history.
