KOHIMA — The fourth day of the 24th NSF Martyrs’ Memorial Trophy saw thrilling matches at Indira Gandhi Stadium, with Nousi Rüzhü (Colleges), Khrietho FC Meriema, and Kohima College Kohima emerging victorious to advance to the next round.
In the opening match on Wednesday, Nousi Rüzhü (Colleges) faced off against New Reserve Youth Organisation in a nail-biting encounter. Nousi Rüzhü took the lead early on, with Kedolhouvo Naprantsu finding the net in the 11th minute. They extended their lead when Kedovituo Miasalhou scored in the 51st minute. However, New Reserve Youth Organisation fought back valiantly, with Mezhuzhoulie Zashümo equalizing through goals in the 33rd and 68th minutes. The tension reached its peak until Vikerütuo Tachü clinched the victory for Nousi Rüzhü with a decisive goal in the 70+1st minute. Mezhuzhoulie Zashümo’s impressive performance earned him the player of the match title.
The second match featured Khrietho FC Meriema against Jalukie Town Youth Organisation. Khrietho FC Meriema asserted their dominance early, with Boresh scoring a swift goal in the 4th minute. The team continued to control the game, and Petevizo Kezieo sealed their victory with a goal in the 42nd minute, resulting in a 2-0 win. Jalukie Town Youth Organisation struggled to break through Khrietho FC Meriema’s defense and remained scoreless throughout the match. Petevizo Kezieo’s outstanding play earned him the player of the match award.
In the final match of the day, Kohima College Kohima clashed with Halcyon FC in an intense game. Kohima College Kohima gained momentum in the second half when Kelevi Seyie scored the opening goal in the 46th minute. The team’s confidence soared as Pauzie Haikuibe added two more goals in quick succession during the 64th and 69th minutes. Despite a spirited effort from Halcyon FC, highlighted by a goal from Mangkholen Kuki in the 66th minute, they could not overcome Kohima College Kohima’s lead. Menuokhrielie was honored as the player of the match for his exceptional performance.
