KUALA TERENGGANU: In a tragic incident at Pantai Penunjuk, Kijal, Kemaman, a Cambodian woman lost her life after a tree fell on her amid severe weather conditions this afternoon. The event unfolded at approximately 6:15 pm when the area was experiencing intense rainfall.

Kemaman District police chief, Superintendent Hanyan Ramlan, confirmed that the victim, Saleha Ashaari, aged 49, who was a permanent resident and a trader operating at the beach, was pronounced dead at the scene. Saleha, a mother of three residing in Kampung Berayun, Kijal, had her body transported to the Kemaman Hospital Forensic Unit for a post-mortem examination.

This unfortunate event coincides with a weather warning issued by the Malaysian Meteorology Department (MetMalaysia). Earlier in the day, MetMalaysia had forecasted thunderstorms and heavy rain for Kemaman and five other districts in Terengganu between 5 pm and 9 pm. The severe weather created hazardous conditions along the coastal areas, leading to this fatal accident.
