Youssef El-Sherif, the acclaimed artist, is gearing up for his much-anticipated return to the silver screen with his latest project, “Death Derby.” This new venture marks a significant comeback for El-Sherif, who has been absent from cinema for an extended period of seven years, with his last film being the 2018 release “Sons of Adam.”

“Death Derby” represents the second collaboration between Youssef El-Sherif and the talented Dina El-Sherbini. Their first partnership was also in “Sons of Adam,” which garnered critical acclaim upon its release. The upcoming film will be directed by the visionary Ahmed Nader Galal, and its production is backed by the esteemed “Big Time” Fund. This project is a joint effort in collaboration with the United Company and the Entertainment Authority of Saudi Arabia, ensuring a high-quality production.

Filming for “Death Derby” is scheduled to commence in late 2024, with scenes being shot across various locations in Egypt and Saudi Arabia. This decision follows an extensive site inspection by the director to ensure the perfect settings for the film’s thrilling narrative.

The plot of “Death Derby” revolves around an exhilarating sports competition that quickly escalates into a web of dark secrets and mysterious crimes. As multiple characters navigate this high-stakes environment, they uncover hidden threads that lead to unexpected revelations, promising an edge-of-the-seat experience for audiences.

Before “Death Derby,” Youssef El-Sherif’s most recent work was the television series “Covid 25,” which aired during the Ramadan 2021 season. The series received widespread acclaim and was a significant success during its broadcast. The storyline of “Covid 25” centers on the spread of a deadly virus in the year 2025, compelling infected individuals to become violent attackers. Dr. Yassin Al-Masri, played by El-Sherif, is tasked with uncovering the larger conspiracy behind the virus outbreak, navigating themes of disease and apocalyptic danger. The series was also directed by Ahmed Nader Galal and penned by writer Angie Ala.

In summary, Youssef El-Sherif’s return to cinema with “Death Derby” is highly anticipated, especially given his previous successes and the high-caliber team involved in this new project. Fans can look forward to a gripping story filled with suspense, mystery, and intense drama.
