TUENSANG — The ongoing Dr. T Ao Trophy 2024 inter-district football tournament has reached its third day, featuring a thrilling lineup of five matches at the prestigious Loyem Memorial Astro Turf Ground in Tuensang.
In an exhilarating opening match, Peren and Kohima battled to a dramatic 4-4 draw. Peren’s Kenumoi Siarau delivered a standout performance, scoring twice. His teammates Lamsanggin and Winamthiu each added a goal in the second half. Kohima responded with equal vigor, with Nipusizo Nagi, Neiselo Peseyie, Noulevietuo Pienyo, and Noune Modeze each finding the back of the net to secure the tie.
The second match saw Zunheboto face off against Shamator, where Zunheboto clinched a 4-2 victory. Vinato was the hero for Zunheboto, achieving a hat-trick with goals in the 30th, 34th, and 55th minutes. Ghuqhe also contributed to the scoreline with a goal in the 24th minute. Shamator’s Tsurito M and Nungshimar each managed to score, adding tension to an already intense match.
Mokokchung demonstrated dominance in the third match of the day, decisively defeating Kiphire with a resounding 5-0 scoreline. Nusu set the pace with an early goal, while Sentilong showcased his striking prowess with a hat-trick. Limakumzuk and Suponglemba rounded off the victory with goals in the first and 28th minutes, respectively.
The fourth match featured the home team, Tuensang, who delighted local fans with a 2-0 triumph over Longleng. Dongehanglen and Balen Yemjong each netted a goal, securing a well-earned win for Tuensang.
The final match of the day between Dimapur and Phek saw Phek emerge victorious with a solid 2-0 win. Yhoto Lohe and Kenuzo Venuh were the scorers for Phek, each contributing a vital goal to seal the match.
