New Delhi [India], September 19 (ANI): Legendary Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar showered praise on all-rounders Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja for their exceptional counter-attacking partnership, which transformed India’s position from a state of despair to one of dominance in the first Test against Bangladesh.

In the first innings of the match at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Ashwin and Jadeja delivered stellar performances that were crucial in salvaging India from a precarious situation. At the close of play on day one, Team India had reached a formidable 339/6, thanks largely to Ashwin’s unbeaten century (102*) and Jadeja’s strong showing (86*). Their unbeaten 195-run partnership was instrumental in stabilizing the Indian innings.

Taking to social media platform X, Tendulkar wrote, “From despair to domination! @ashwinravi99 and @imjadeja’s knocks have turned the tide for India once again. This all-round brilliance is invaluable. Super partnership boys. #INDvBAN.”

In terms of the match specifics, Bangladesh won the toss and opted to bowl first. India’s top order struggled initially, finding themselves at a dismal 34/3. Opener Yashasvi Jaiswal (56 off 118 balls, with nine boundaries) and Rishabh Pant (39 off 52 balls, with six boundaries) provided some resistance with a 62-run partnership for the fourth wicket, giving India a much-needed foothold in the game. However, the team faced another collapse, slipping to 144/6 before Ashwin and Jadeja came together to rescue the innings.

Hasan Mahmud emerged as the standout bowler for Bangladesh, wreaking havoc on India’s top order by claiming four wickets for 58 runs. His victims included key players such as skipper Rohit Sharma (6), Shubman Gill (0), and Virat Kohli (6).

The playing XI for Bangladesh included: Shadman Islam, Zakir Hasan, Najmul Hossain Shanto (c), Mominul Haque, Mushfiqur Rahim, Shakib Al Hasan, Litton Das (w), Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Taskin Ahmed, Hasan Mahmud, and Nahid Rana.

India’s playing XI featured: Rohit Sharma (c), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant (w), Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, Jasprit Bumrah, Akash Deep, and Mohammed Siraj.
