Washington [US], September 2 (ANI): Renowned for her Oscar-winning performance, Marcia Gay Harden is set to lend her voice to the new sci-fi thriller ‘Renner’. This intriguing film is penned, directed, and produced by Robert Rippberger.
Harden, celebrated for her memorable roles in Pollock and Mystic River, will bring to life the character Salenus, an artificially intelligent companion designed by the film’s protagonist, Renner. The role of Renner, a brilliant computer genius, is played by Frankie Muniz. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the plot thickens as Renner, in his quest to impress his new neighbor Jamie, portrayed by Violett Beane, realizes that he has inadvertently programmed his manipulative mother into the AI system.
The script of ‘Renner’ is a collaborative effort by Robert Rippberger, Martin Medina, and Luke Medina. Besides directing, Rippberger takes on the role of producer along with Medina, KT Kent, Devin Keaton, and Jay Burnley.
In a statement to The Hollywood Reporter, Rippberger expressed his enthusiasm about Harden joining the cast. He remarked, “It’s a tremendous honor to have a distinguished performer like Marcia voice the technological marvel that is reshaping Hollywood narratives. Throughout history, societies have relied on oracles. Today, AI serves as another distraction from independent thought, yet preserving the human touch in art makes it timeless. Marcia is an exceptional artist who has profoundly enriched the themes of this film.”
Marcia Gay Harden boasts a stellar career with a second Academy Award nomination for her role in The Morning Show on Apple TV+. She has also starred in the CBS dramedy So Help Me Todd and the Michael Keaton-directed thriller Knox Goes Away. In 2001, Harden clinched the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her portrayal of Lee Krasner in Pollock.
Harden’s representation includes CAA, Framework Entertainment, Schreck Rose Dapello Adams Berlin & Dunham, and The Initiative Group.
