Top 10 US Films Dominated by ‘Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga’; Netflix Expands Sports Content

Max, Netflix, Paramount+, Prime Video, Apple TV+, Peacock, and Hulu are currently the go-to platforms for the top 10 films in the United States. According to the latest ReelGood streaming charts, “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga” on Max has dominated the number one spot for the week of August 22, 2024.

Following closely, Netflix’s “The Union” claims the second position. Paramount+ features “A Quiet Place: Day One” in third place, while Prime Video’s “Jackpot” and Max’s “Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 1” secure the fourth and fifth spots respectively.

In positions six through ten, we have “The Instigators” on Apple TV+, “The Killer” on Peacock, Hulu’s ‘Alien’, Netflix’s ‘Incoming’, and “The Bikeriders” on Peacock rounding out the list.

Meanwhile, Netflix has announced its upcoming sports series titled “Starting 5,” set to provide an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at moments from the 2023-2024 NBA season. This initiative is part of a broader strategy by streaming services to boost viewership and ad revenue by delving into sports content.

Netflix has already expanded its sports content library by signing new deals with World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) and the National Football League (NFL). The new series will be a 10-part saga featuring popular NBA stars such as Jimmy Butler, Anthony Edwards, LeBron James, Domantas Sabonis, and Jayson Tatum.

Slated to premiere on October 9, “Starting 5” will be produced by LeBron James’ digital media company, Uninterrupted. The series will also involve Higher Ground Productions, founded by Barack and Michelle Obama, along with former NFL quarterback Peyton Manning’s Omaha Productions.
