KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Lauren Hurst, a highly-rated women’s basketball player, announced on Monday that she will be joining the Tennessee Lady Vols. Hurst, a four-star recruit, surprised head coach Kim Caldwell in a heartwarming way.
Caldwell’s assistants had her sit down and handed her a white box tied with an orange bow. When she opened it, she found pictures of herself with Hurst. Since Caldwell is expecting her first baby, the box also included an orange baby bib that read, “My first season.”
As soon as Caldwell saw the items, she said, “This is a good sign.” Moments later, Hurst entered the room, surprising both Caldwell and the coaching staff.
Lauren Hurst is considered one of the top 50 players in the 2025 recruiting class. She chose Tennessee over Clemson and NC State, which were her other top options. By committing to Tennessee, Hurst joins an already impressive lineup that includes twin point guards Mia and Mya Pauldo, five-star wing Deniya Prawl, and four-star guard Jaida Civil.
