The United States women’s national soccer team (USWNT) is gearing up to host the 2025 SheBelieves Cup, an exciting tournament that will feature top teams Japan, Australia, and Colombia. As the No. 1 team in FIFA’s global rankings, the USWNT is preparing to showcase their dominance while also sharpening their skills for future international competitions.

The tournament kicks off on February 20, 2025, with the USWNT taking on Colombia, ranked 21st in the world, at Shell Energy Stadium in Houston, Texas. On February 23, they will face Australia, ranked 15th, at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona. The final match will be against Japan, ranked 7th globally, on February 26 at Snapdragon Stadium in San Diego, California. Fans can expect thrilling matches at each stop of the tournament.

U.S. head coach Emma Hayes expressed her excitement about the lineup, highlighting that all four teams were part of the most recent World Cup and Olympics. According to Hayes, this competitive environment is perfect for helping teams prepare for future challenges on the global stage.

Historically, the USWNT has dominated their opponents in this lineup. Against Colombia, they hold an undefeated record of 11 wins and 2 draws, with their most recent clash ending in a commanding 3-0 victory for the U.S. Against Australia, the team boasts a record of 28 wins, 5 draws, and just one loss. Their last meeting was a tight 2-1 win for the U.S., which eliminated Australia from the Olympic tournament. Japan has proven to be a tougher rival over the years, but the USWNT still holds an impressive record of 32 wins, 8 draws, and just 1 loss. Their latest encounter saw the U.S. triumph in the quarterfinals of the 2024 Olympics.

Colombia and Australia will be making their first-ever appearances in the SheBelieves Cup, while Japan returns for its fifth time. The USWNT has historically dominated this tournament as well, winning the last five editions and securing a total of seven titles since the event began.

Before the tournament begins, the USWNT will hold a critical training camp in Los Angeles from January 14-21, 2025. This camp will give coaches a chance to evaluate rising talent and refine team strategies. It’s also a great opportunity for young players to make their case for inclusion in both the SheBelieves Cup roster and future international events.

The SheBelieves Cup isn’t just another trophy hunt for the USWNT—it’s a chance to fine-tune their game against strong opponents and maintain their position as the best team in the world. Fans can look forward to high-energy matches, with each team bringing their best to this prestigious tournament. Rosters for both the training camp and the SheBelieves Cup are expected to be announced early next year, setting the stage for an unforgettable soccer showdown.
