New Zealand cricket player Devon Conway will not be part of the Black Caps team for the third test match against England. The reason? He’s staying in Wellington as he and his wife, Kim, are about to welcome their first baby this week.
In Conway’s place, Auckland Aces batter Mark Chapman has been added to the team. Chapman will join the squad in Hamilton ahead of the final test match happening this Saturday. Another option to step into Conway’s role is Will Young, who recently played in the team’s series win against India.
Mark Chapman has been in great form lately, smashing an impressive 276 runs last week in a Plunket Shield game for Auckland.
Coach Gary Stead expressed full support for Conway’s decision to prioritize his family. “Family comes first for us, and we’re all really excited for Devon and Kim as they prepare to welcome their first child,” Stead said.
The Black Caps will now look to adjust their lineup as they gear up for this crucial third test, with both Chapman and Young being key considerations.
