Iowa State’s women’s basketball team, ranked No. 20, had an impressive win on Sunday, dominating Central Michigan with a final score of 82-56.
Leading the charge was Audi Crooks, who delivered an outstanding performance with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Addy Brown was also in top form, contributing 18 points to the Cyclones’ victory. Emily Ryan showcased her versatility by adding 12 points, six assists, and six steals to the team’s effort.
On the Central Michigan side, Jayda Mosley led her team with 11 points, while Madi Morson and Ayanna-Sarai Darrington each chipped in 10 points. Despite their efforts, the Chippewas (now 3-6) couldn’t keep up with the Cyclones’ fast start.
Iowa State took control of the game early, jumping out to a quick 15-3 lead within the first five minutes. A dominating 12-0 run later in the opening quarter extended their advantage to 27-9. By the end of the first quarter, Iowa State was firmly ahead, leading 31-13.
The second quarter saw more of the same. Addy Brown’s layup pushed Iowa State’s lead to 47-20 with just over three minutes left in the half. Central Michigan managed to respond slightly, scoring eight of the next ten points, but the Cyclones still went into halftime up 49-28.
In the third quarter, Crooks and Brown stayed hot, scoring eight points each as Iowa State shot an impressive 59% from the field. The Cyclones widened their lead to 70-41 heading into the final quarter.
While Iowa State slowed down a bit in the fourth quarter, shooting just 36%, their earlier dominance sealed the win. They finished the game with a strong shooting percentage of 53%.
It was a commanding performance that underscored Iowa State’s strength this season as they improved to an 8-2 record. Central Michigan, meanwhile, will look to regroup after falling to 3-6 on the season.
