Remedy Entertainment has shared exciting new details about the improvements coming to *Alan Wake 2* for the PS5 Pro, set to release next month. The game, already well-known for its chilling survival horror experience, will see several upgrades designed to take full advantage of the more powerful console.
One of the biggest upgrades is the addition of ray tracing. In Quality Mode, *Alan Wake 2* will now support ray-traced reflections, which will make lighting and reflections in the game look much more realistic. This is a first for the game on consoles. In this mode, it will run at 30 frames per second (FPS) and will display in 4K resolution, although it’s upscaled from a lower render resolution of 2176 x 1224.
For those who prefer smoother gameplay, there’s a Performance Mode option. While it won’t include ray tracing, this mode will still offer enhanced visuals through something called PSSR (a technique that improves reflections without full ray tracing). In Performance Mode, the game will run at a higher frame rate of 60 FPS and will display at a 4K resolution, upscaled from a similar render resolution as in Quality Mode. This is a big jump compared to the PS5 base model’s Performance Mode, which runs at 1440p upscaled from a lower resolution of 1536 x 864.
