The Tigers surged ahead with a powerful 20-8 run in the closing moments, improving their record to 6-2. For Westbrook, Ava Bolden stood out with eight points as her team slipped to 5-3.
In another girls basketball matchup, Gray-New Gloucester dominated Noble with a commanding 64-33 win. Izzy Morelli put up 21 points, while Abbey Steele sank five three-pointers to contribute 15 points. The Patriots raced to an early 23-5 lead in the first quarter and extended it to 40-13 by halftime, boosting their record to 8-2. Noble’s Grace Roberts scored 14 points, and Lauren Merchant added 10.
Kennebunk earned a solid 51-32 victory over Fryeburg Academy. Delaney Hanson led with 12 points, and Kendall Therrien had an impressive double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Addie Clark chipped in eight points for the Rams, who now stand at 7-3. Fryeburg’s Ines Palomino fought hard, scoring 15 points.
Leavitt edged Poland in a tight game, winning 40-37. Gabby Smith was the hero for the Hornets, scoring 16 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. She also nailed two clutch free throws in the final moments. Jordyn Boulay contributed 11 points for Leavitt, now 6-1. For Poland, Phoebe Paradis led with 12 points as her team suffered its first loss of the season.
Marshwood pulled away in the fourth quarter to secure a 55-41 victory over Deering. Natalie Lathrop and Sarah Theriault each scored 16 points for the Hawks, now 8-1. Despite a standout 25-point effort from Deering’s Angelina Keo, the Rams fell to 1-7.
Morse cruised to a dominant 64-12 win over Lisbon, fueled by Reese Darling’s 16 points. Rebekah Plummer added nine points for the Shipbuilders (3-4). For Lisbon, Hannah Perron managed six points as her team remains winless.
South Portland stayed in control from start to finish, beating Portland 53-30. The Red Riots jumped to an early 17-2 lead and never looked back. Caleigh Corcoran led with 16 points, supported by Destiny Peter (12 points) and Annie Whitmore (10). Portland’s Baleria Yugu scored a game-high 19 points for the Bulldogs.
Brunswick handled Falmouth with ease, claiming a 55-22 victory. Alexis Morin led with 10 points, while Cheyenne Shipley grabbed 11 rebounds and scored eight points. Maya Koerber-Marx also added eight points for Brunswick (6-2). Falmouth’s Siobhan Nielsen led her team with 13 points.
In boys basketball action, Freeport outshined Massabesic in a decisive 66-36 win. Four players scored in double figures for the Falcons (2-6): Conner Smith (16 points), Bruce Dwyer (12), Drew Pound (11), and Mason Vintinner (10). Massabesic’s Caden Nielsen led all scorers with 18 points.
Noble extended its unbeaten streak to nine games with a narrow 57-54 win over Gray-New Gloucester. Jamier Rose carried the Knights with a stellar 24-point performance, overcoming an early double-digit deficit. John Patenaude shone for the Patriots with 23 points, including four three-pointers in the first quarter.
Poland topped Leavitt 45-30, thanks to Damon Martin’s all-around effort with 13 points, five assists, and three steals. Nick Jamo added 10 points for Poland (5-2), while Leavitt’s Riley Meisner and Colin Schlobohm each scored eight.
South Portland dominated Portland in a convincing 70-48 win, leading from start to finish. Manny Hidalgo poured in a game-high 23 points, including 19 in the first half. Tom Maloji added 13 points, and Gabe Jackson chipped in with 11 for the Red Riots (7-2). The Bulldogs were led by Cordell Jones with 15 points.
Winthrop breezed past North Yarmouth Academy with a commanding 58-25 victory. Braden Branagan and Graham Huri paced Winthrop’s balanced attack with 12 points each, while Cole Bard added 10. Mansuk Loboka led NYA with eight points.
York continued its undefeated run with an impressive 79-44 win over Wells. Reece MacDonald was unstoppable with a game-high 30 points, and Jack Joyce added six three-pointers for his 18-point contribution. Wells’ Jeremy Therrien scored a notable 22 points with five three-pointers.
Hall-Dale surged past Sacopee Valley in the second half to earn a 65-47 victory. Keegan Cary led the Bulldogs with 19 points as they opened the third quarter on a dominant 22-4 run. Silas Nielsen stood out for Sacopee Valley with an impressive stat line of 21 points, 10 rebounds, and five blocks.
Windham remained perfect at 8-0 after defeating Bangor 68-38. Creighty Dickson led all scorers with 20 points, while Tyrie James added 17, including a hot start in the first quarter. Bangor’s top scorers were Nate and Josh Grunkemeyer with six each.
In boys hockey action, Marshwood/Traip/Sanford/Noble edged St. Dominic’s Academy in a tight battle, winning 2-1. Connor Lentz was stellar in goal with 27 saves. Emmett Hammond led the offense with a goal and an assist, while Brady Asciola also found the net for the Knighthawks. Spencer Morgan scored St. Dom’s lone goal.
