New Mario & Luigi RPG ‘Brothership’ Set to Launch Nov 7

Nintendo is known for making great first-party games, but they sometimes team up with other studios to bring fresh ideas to their franchises. This approach allows them to see if a new partner can bring something special to the table. For example, they recently collaborated with Grezzo on a successful release. Now, the final big Nintendo Switch game for 2024, *Mario & Luigi Brothership*, is set to launch next month, and we’ve learned who helped Nintendo develop it.

According to a recent announcement, *Mario & Luigi Brothership* was created in partnership with Acquire, the studio behind the popular *Octopath Traveler* RPGs. Many Switch owners will remember that the first *Octopath Traveler* was a console exclusive for a while and performed exceptionally well. While its sequel was available on multiple platforms from day one, it didn’t achieve the same level of success.

The news that Acquire is working on this new Mario & Luigi game is exciting for fans. First, they’re known for making solid RPGs. Second, this series hasn’t had a new installment in years, so it’s important that the game feels fresh and different. This is especially crucial because two other Mario-themed RPGs have already been released in the past year. Nintendo has a reputation for ensuring that even its smaller franchises have a unique identity, which might explain why this particular series has been on hold for a while.

Based on what we know so far, Acquire seems like the perfect fit for this project, especially since the game is aiming to be bigger and better for its debut on the Nintendo Switch.

As for the storyline, Mario and Luigi are called to the world of Concordia by a new character named Connie. She needs their help to reunite the scattered islands of her homeland. To do this, the brothers sail around on a giant “ship island,” finding lost islands and bringing them back together while battling against the evil Extension Corps, who wants to stop them.

Just like in previous games, players will control Mario and Luigi both individually and as a team during battles. They’ll need to use their teamwork to pull off powerful combo attacks. The game is set to release on November 7th, and fans are eagerly waiting to see how this new adventure unfolds!
