Nintendo Switch’s subscription service is a bit different from what you get with Xbox or PlayStation.
While all three services let you play multiplayer games online, the free games they offer vary a lot. Nintendo Switch Online mainly gives you access to older games from its past consoles, while Xbox and PlayStation offer more recent titles.
That’s about to change with Nintendo’s new feature called Game Trials, which lets you try out newer games. From October 23 to October 30, Nintendo Switch Online subscribers can play three recently released games for free.
One of the biggest games in this lineup is *Minecraft Dungeons*. It’s a spin-off of *Minecraft* but plays more like a dungeon crawler. Each level is randomly generated, so it’s different every time you play.
The other two games are indie hits that fans love. *Cursed to Golf* is an 80-rated game where you have to complete a golf course in purgatory. The twist? The course is randomly selected every time, adding a roguelike element to the game.
Then there’s *A Little to the Left*, a puzzle game where you organize items into neat and satisfying arrangements.
All three games are available for free during that week, but only for Nintendo Switch Online members. These are fairly short games, so if you’re a dedicated gamer, you can likely finish them within the time frame. Or, you can just focus on the one that fits your style best.
Nintendo vs Xbox and PlayStation
While Nintendo doesn’t usually give out newer games like Xbox or PlayStation, it’s much cheaper. A year of Nintendo Switch Online costs about the same as one month of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, which is a big price difference.
If you’re not too focused on modern online gaming, Nintendo Switch Online could be the best value. The service includes classic games like *Super Metroid* and *A Link to the Past*, which still hold up today.
Plus, Nintendo offers games that aren’t available on other platforms, making it a unique option for gamers.
