Ousmane Dembele delivered a dramatic last-minute goal to secure Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) a 1-0 win over Monaco, clinching the Trophee des Champions in Qatar. The decisive strike came in the second minute of stoppage time, earning PSG their 13th title in the competition after a tightly contested match.
Meanwhile, in Ligue 1 action, Marseille showed dominance with a commanding 5-1 victory against Le Havre. Valentin Rongier, Bilal Nadir, and Neal Maupay all scored in the first half. Elye Wahi and Ulisses Garcia added two more after the break, while Andre Ayew managed a late consolation goal for Le Havre in the 85th minute.
Elsewhere, Zakaria Aboukhlal’s penalty helped Toulouse edge past 10-man Lens with a narrow 1-0 win. Angers climbed out of the relegation zone by beating Brest 2-0, thanks to goals from Esteban Lepaul and Ibrahima Niane. Strasbourg made it two league wins in a row by coming back from behind to defeat Auxerre 3-1.
Over in Serie A, Roma took an early lead and held on to claim a 2-0 victory in the Rome derby against Lazio. Captain Lorenzo Pellegrini opened the scoring with a stunning shot into the top corner, followed by Alexis Saelemaekers’ cool finish into the bottom corner. Late-game drama saw Valentin Castellanos sent off after a heated clash between both teams.
Cagliari secured an important 2-1 win against fellow relegation battlers Monza. Gianluca Caprari gave Monza the lead with an early penalty, but Nadir Zortea equalized before Roberto Piccoli netted the winner for Cagliari. Monza’s struggles deepened as Danilo D’Ambrosio received a red card. Meanwhile, Lecce and Genoa played out a goalless draw, as did Torino and Parma.
In Spain’s Copa del Rey, Real Sociedad advanced to the next round with a solid 2-0 win over Ponferradina, thanks to second-half goals from Mikel Oyarzabal and Brais Mendez. However, there were major upsets as La Liga side Real Valladolid was knocked out after losing 3-2 to lower-tier team Ourense. Angel Sanchez scored the decisive goal in the 52nd minute after an intense first half ended level.
Another shock came as Las Palmas were thrashed 4-0 by Segunda Division club Elche. Rodrigo Mendoza opened the scoring just before halftime, and a flurry of three goals in 15 minutes from David Affengruber, Jose Salinas, and Nicolas Fernandez sealed Elche’s dominant win.
Celta Vigo pulled off a thrilling comeback to beat Racing Santander 3-2. Racing, down to 10 players from the 35th minute, thought they had won after an own goal from Javi Rodriguez gave them the lead. But another own goal by Javi Castro leveled the score before Alfon Gonzalez scored his second goal in stoppage time to secure Celta Vigo’s victory.
Leganes also moved forward with a 2-1 win over Cartagena. Luis Munoz initially put Cartagena ahead, but Munir El Haddadi’s equalizer and Dani Raba’s winner sent Leganes through to the next round.
