Midfielder Noel Buck, a rising talent from the Revolution Academy, made his professional debut for the New England Revolution at just 17 years old back in 2022. Before his recent departure, Buck played in 18 matches during the 2024 season, contributing one goal and one assist across 13 MLS games. Over the past three years, he has made a total of 57 appearances in all competitions, scoring five goals and providing three assists.
Meanwhile, winger Emmanuel “Ema” Boateng has left New England after four seasons. The Revolution traded him for $200,000 in 2025 general allocation money, which is essentially extra funds teams can use to spend beyond the league’s salary cap. According to Sporting Director Curt Onalfo, this move aligns with Boateng’s wish to return to his roots in Southern California. Originally from Ghana, Boateng came to the U.S. at 15, supported by the Right to Dream youth academy, which helped him attend a prep school near Los Angeles.
The Right to Dream academy, now overseen by the Mansour Group, shares ties with San Diego FC—MLS’s newest team and the league’s 30th franchise. San Diego FC plans to collaborate closely with Right to Dream by using its new training complex as a development pipeline for young talent.
Reflecting on Boateng’s time with the team, Onalfo expressed gratitude for his contributions, calling him a “true professional and valued teammate.” Boateng, who turns 31 later this month, joined New England in 2021 as a seasoned MLS player with seven years of experience. During his first season with the club, he played a key role in their Supporters’ Shield-winning campaign, contributing to six goals in just 13 matches. Over his tenure with the Revolution, Boateng made 108 appearances and scored eight goals, averaging two per season. However, in 2024, he played in 23 games but started only eight and never completed a full 90 minutes.
These roster changes highlight a broader overhaul under head coach Caleb Porter. New England has now parted ways with 13 players who logged at least 500 MLS minutes during Porter’s first year in charge. Since the season ended, the team has added eight new players to its lineup: forwards Leo Campana and Luis Díaz; midfielder Jackson Yueill; defenders Mamadou Fofana, Brayan Ceballos, and Tanner Beason; as well as goalkeepers Alex Bono and Donovan Parisian, their top pick in the SuperDraft.
