FC Juarez Bravas kicked off their season with a bang, dominating Puebla 3-0 on Monday night at the Benito Juarez Olympic Stadium. The goals came from Annia Mejia, Dayana Martin, and Karime Abud, giving the home fans plenty to cheer about as the new season began.
From the start, the Bravas took control of the game, making it clear they were the stronger team. They had no trouble dictating the pace and style of play against Puebla, who struggled to keep up. This marks the fifth straight time Juarez has defeated Puebla, solidifying their dominance in this matchup.
The Bravas had their first big chance in the 13th minute when forward Prisca Chilufya fired a shot just wide of the goal. Moments later, she came close again with another attempt that barely missed finding the back of the net.
The breakthrough came in the 38th minute. Annia Mejia rose above both a defender and the goalkeeper during a corner kick, expertly heading the ball into the net to put Juarez ahead 1-0. The score stayed the same until halftime.
In the second half, local star Dayana Martin doubled the lead in the 71st minute. Once again, a corner kick proved deadly for Puebla. Martin managed to slip away from her marker and headed the ball past the goalkeeper with ease. The final blow came in the 82nd minute. Prisca Chilufya made a strong run down the right side and sent in a perfect cross, which Karime Abud finished with her left foot to make it 3-0. It was a commanding performance from start to finish.
Looking ahead, Juarez will prepare for another home game on Sunday evening against Necaxa. The match is set to kick off at 7 p.m. Necaxa started their season with a tough loss, falling 3-0 to Chivas de Guadalajara. Fans can catch Sunday’s game live on FC Juarez’s YouTube channel.
However, the Bravas are missing a key player this season. Forward Jasmine Casarez, one of the team’s standout stars and a major figure in MountainStar Sports Group’s soccer lineup, is sidelined with an injury. Just before Monday’s game, it was announced that Casarez had suffered a grade 2 ankle sprain. No timeline for her recovery has been shared yet, leaving fans eager for updates on her return.
