Assam Crushes Haryana 11-0 in Sub-Junior Boys’ National Football Championship

Jorhat (Assam) [India], September 20 (ANI): In a one-sided spectacle, the Sub-Junior Boys’ National Football Championship Tier 2 final saw hosts Assam thrashing Haryana 11-0 to clinch the title in Jorhat on Friday, September 20, 2024.

Assam’s commanding performance was highlighted by Tanmoy Boruah’s exceptional double hat-trick, netting six goals that were evenly split between both halves. Contributing to this remarkable victory were Tamash Daimary and Arup Karmakar, each scoring two goals, while Nivir Protim Borgohain added his name to the list of scorers. This dominant display was reported in a press release by the All India Football Federation (AIFF).

From the initial whistle, Assam exhibited their offensive strength. The match’s first goal came as early as the 6th minute, courtesy of Tamash Daimary. Captain Tanmoy Boruah then doubled the lead in the 12th minute. Just four minutes later, Arup Karmakar scored, followed by another goal from Tamash in the 19th minute and a penalty conversion in the 21st minute.

Tanmoy’s relentless scoring continued with a goal in the 25th minute, and Arup sealed a powerful first half with another strike in the 31st minute, leaving Assam comfortably ahead with seven goals by halftime.

The second half saw Assam maintaining their aggressive stance. Tamash continued his scoring spree with goals in the 54th, 59th, and 78th minutes. Substitute Nivir Protim Borgohain added to Haryana’s woes with a goal in the 62nd minute, culminating in an overwhelming triumph for Assam.

Meanwhile, Manipur secured their spot in the Sub-Junior Boys’ National Football Championship Tier 1 final with an emphatic 4-0 victory over Goa on the same day. Manipur will face hosts Karnataka in the final on Sunday.

Manipur’s dominance was evident from the outset as they surged to a 3-0 lead within the first 22 minutes. The opening goal came in the fifth minute when Makakmayum Araf’s long ball found Keisham Bikash Singh, who made no mistake finding the net. Araf himself doubled the lead in the 12th minute with a spectacular long-range effort from about 35 yards.

Goa’s goalkeeper Kaustubh Dattaraj Tari struggled with long-range shots, conceding another goal in the 22nd minute when Bikash Singh’s looping shot managed to cross the goal line despite Tari’s efforts. Bikash Singh completed his hat-trick deep into injury time (90+4th minute), skillfully maneuvering past two defenders before slotting home after receiving a pass from Salman.

Both matches showcased exceptional talent and set the stage for an exciting final showdown in their respective tiers.
