The Government’s decision to appoint Air Marshal Amar Preet Singh, who currently serves as the Vice Chief of the Air Staff, as the next Chief of the Air Staff underscores his extensive experience and strategic acumen. He will assume the rank of Air Chief Marshal on the afternoon of September 30, 2024, succeeding the present Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Vivek Ram Chaudhari, who will retire on the same date.
Born on October 27, 1964, Air Marshal Amar Preet Singh began his distinguished career in December 1984 when he was commissioned into the fighter pilot stream of the Indian Air Force. Over nearly four decades of service, he has held numerous Command, Staff, Instructional, and Foreign appointments. His educational background includes prestigious institutions such as the National Defence Academy, Defence Services Staff College, and National Defence College.
A Qualified Flying Instructor and an Experimental Test Pilot, Air Marshal Singh boasts over 5,000 hours of flying experience on various fixed and rotary-wing aircraft. His extensive service record and exceptional flying skills highlight his readiness to lead the Indian Air Force into a new era of excellence. (ANI)
