Malaysian Doubles Pairs Advance to China Open Finals

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 21 (Bernama) — In a stunning turn of events, the national professional men’s doubles pair Goh Sze Fei and Nur Izzuddin Mohd Rumsani have made waves by advancing to the final of the prestigious China Open in Changzhou.

The duo, who previously clinched victory at the Japan Open, entered the China Open as the seventh seeds. They showcased their exceptional skills and teamwork, needing only 43 minutes to secure a triumph over the unseeded Indonesian pair Muhammad Shohibul Fikri and Daniel Marthin. The match concluded with scores of 21-14, 24-22 in favor of Goh Sze Fei and Nur Izzuddin.

This remarkable achievement marks yet another milestone for Malaysian badminton, as another national pair has successfully reached the finals of a Super 1,000 World Tour tournament. In addition to the men’s doubles success, mixed doubles pair Goh Soon Huat and Shevon Lai have also made headlines. They managed to overcome the Chinese team of Cheng Xing and Zhang Chi with identical scores of 21-18 in both sets, securing their place in the final.

These victories highlight Malaysia’s growing prowess in the international badminton arena, reflecting the dedication and hard work of its athletes.
