Iowa State men’s basketball has made a significant early acquisition for their 2027 class, securing a commitment from North Scott’s standout small forward, Josiah Harrington, on Thursday. This marks the first commitment for the Cyclones in that recruiting class.

Standing at 6-foot-5 and weighing 170 pounds, Harrington is currently a sophomore who chose Iowa State over notable programs such as Iowa, Illinois, Northern Illinois, and Oklahoma. His decision adds a promising young talent to the Cyclones’ roster.

In his freshman season at North Scott, Harrington showcased his scoring ability by averaging 13.3 points per game, tying for the team-high. His efficiency on the court was remarkable, boasting a 55.1% shooting percentage from the field and an impressive 46.5% from beyond the arc. Additionally, he contributed three rebounds and one assist per game, highlighting his all-around play.

During the summer, Harrington’s performance in AAU basketball significantly boosted his recruiting profile. In an interview with The Register, he expressed his ambitions and areas for improvement. “My jump shot has come a long way,” Harrington noted. “I need to get better at my volume, that’s my main focus right now. And I need to get stronger, put on some weight, because I think that will help my game a lot.”

Iowa State’s head coach, T.J. Otzelberger, and his staff extended an offer to Harrington on September 1, 2024, making them one of the latest programs to recognize his potential.
