Farah Khan Reveals SRK’s Unseen Dedication During ‘Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa’ Production

Mumbai, Aug 29 (SocialNews.XYZ) Choreographer-director Farah Khan shared a captivating story about her close friend and Bollywood megastar Shah Rukh Khan, revealing lesser-known details about the making of the film ‘Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa.’

In a nostalgic video, Farah reminisced about the severe budget constraints faced during the production of ‘Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa’ and how Shah Rukh Khan went beyond his role to assist her on one of the songs. She recounted these memories during an interview with Radio Nasha.

Farah elaborated, “The film was made on an incredibly tight budget. SRK was paid a modest sum of Rs 25,000 for his role. Interestingly, I was the highest-paid individual on the project, earning Rs 5,000 per song, with a total of six songs, which brought my earnings to Rs 30,000.”

She further explained the extent of the financial limitations, noting that there wasn’t enough budget to hire assistants for each department. In one particular instance, the film lacked the funds to pay professional dancers. Consequently, they enlisted local residents from Goa who had no prior experience in lip-syncing or dancing to a beat.

To overcome this challenge, Shah Rukh Khan stepped in with an ingenious solution. Farah shared, “For one of the songs, SRK would lie out of the frame and pinch the locals to signal them when to get up as the beat approached.”

‘Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa,’ directed by Kundan Shah, who was renowned for ‘Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro,’ featured an ensemble cast including Deepak Tijori, Suchitra Krishnamurthy, and Naseeruddin Shah. Produced on a budget of Rs 1.4 crore, the film achieved substantial success, grossing Rs 5.5 crore, which is equivalent to approximately Rs 80 crore when adjusted for inflation as of 2018.

The film is fondly remembered for its memorable songs and Shah Rukh Khan’s compelling performance. In a testament to its enduring appeal, SRK acquired the rights to the film under his production company, Red Chillies Entertainment.

Moreover, ‘Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa’ was remade in Telugu as ‘Swapnalokam,’ directed by Bhimaneni Srinivasa Rao and starring Jagapathi Babu and Raasi. This adaptation further underscores the film’s impactful legacy within Indian cinema.

Through these shared memories, Farah Khan not only highlighted the camaraderie and creativity that went into making ‘Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa’ but also underscored Shah Rukh Khan’s dedication and resourcefulness, traits that have contributed to his lasting success in Bollywood.
