Controversial Film ‘The Apprentice’ on Trump’s Rise Set for Release; Plus, Benefits of Online Insurance Shopping

The highly anticipated film, The Apprentice, is set to dramatize Donald Trump’s meteoric rise in New York’s real estate market and his intricate relationship with the influential political powerbroker Roy Cohn. This film is slated to hit theaters on October 11, perfectly timed for the final stretch of the presidential election, according to an insider familiar with the matter.

Briarcliff Entertainment, an independent distribution company known for its bold choices, has taken up the mantle to release this provocative film. Starring Sebastian Stan as Donald Trump and Jeremy Strong, recognized for his powerful performance in Succession, as Roy Cohn—one of Trump’s key mentors—the film aims to captivate audiences with its intense narrative.

The Apprentice had its premiere at the 77th Cannes Film Festival in May, instantly becoming a hotbed of sociopolitical debate. Steven Cheung, a spokesperson for Trump’s campaign, criticized the film, labeling it a malicious smear. He emphatically stated, “We will take legal action to address the blatantly false claims made by these fake filmmakers. This is pure fiction sensationalized with long-debunked lies.” As of now, it remains uncertain whether any legal actions have been initiated.

One of the film’s most controversial elements is a dramatized scene portraying an alleged incident where Trump sexually assaulted his first wife, Ivana Trump, depicted by Maria Bakalova of Borat Subsequent Moviefilm fame. This scene draws from Ivana Trump’s 1990 divorce deposition where she accused Donald Trump of rape. Although he denied these allegations and Ivana later clarified that she didn’t mean it literally but felt emotionally violated by her ex-husband, the film’s inclusion of this scene has stirred significant controversy. Ivana Trump passed away in 2022.

The Apprentice is directed by Iranian-Danish filmmaker Ali Abbasi and penned by Vanity Fair journalist Gabriel Sherman, who has closely followed Trump and his political cohorts for over a decade. Roy Cohn, who succumbed to AIDS-related complications in 1986 at the age of 59, had always denied being HIV-positive.

Abbasi has yet to respond to the Trump campaign’s accusations directly. However, when questioned at Cannes about the potential legal threats from Trump’s team, Abbasi suggested that Trump should watch the film himself. He remarked, “I don’t necessarily think it’s a movie he wouldn’t like. I think he would be surprised.” Abbasi further proposed an open dialogue with the Trump campaign about the film’s context, hinting at a possible screening and discussion.

Briarcliff Entertainment has a track record of distributing contentious projects. They previously released The Dissident, a gripping 2020 documentary about the murder of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi, after other studios hesitated. They also handled Fahrenheit 11/9, Michael Moore’s 2018 documentary scrutinizing the 2016 presidential election and the early years of Trump’s presidency.

The news of The Apprentice securing a distribution deal was first reported by Puck.

In today’s technologically advanced society, the rapid exchange of information has revolutionized shopping habits, including how drivers shop for car insurance. The internet has made it possible to compare insurance prices effortlessly and discover which providers offer the best deals.

Here are some key benefits of comparing car insurance quotes online:

1. **24/7 Accessibility:** Unlike physical insurance agencies that operate on fixed schedules, online platforms are accessible anytime, anywhere. This convenience is particularly beneficial for those with hectic work schedules who can now compare quotes even during late hours.

2. **Wide Range of Choices:** Almost all insurance providers, whether large brands or local insurers, maintain an online presence. This vast array allows policyholders to explore multiple options and discover potentially lower rates from local and regional insurers that might offer better deals for similar coverage.

3. **Accurate Estimates:** For online quotes to be precise, users must provide accurate information about their car models and driving history. Misleading information might result in lower estimates initially but can lead to issues when securing actual coverage since insurance companies conduct thorough research before granting policies.

4. **Ease of Comparison:** Drivers can easily sort quotes by price using brokerage websites that aggregate quotes from various insurers. This streamlines the comparison process and helps in making informed decisions without solely focusing on cost.
