Seoul’s Mapo-gu District to Keep Public Gymnasiums Open During Chuseok Holiday

Mapo-gu, Seoul, under the leadership of Mayor Park Kang-soo, is pleased to announce that its public gymnasiums will remain open from September 16 to 18 during the Chuseok holiday. This initiative aims to provide residents with an excellent opportunity to engage in a variety of sports activities and maintain their physical well-being.

Residents can take advantage of five key gymnasiums: the Mapo-gu Community Sports Center, Yeomri Sports Center, Seongmisan Gymnasium, Mangwon Interchange Gymnasium, and Wawoosan Badminton Court. These facilities will adhere to their regular operating hours throughout the Chuseok holidays, allowing community members to participate in sports such as bowling, badminton, and table tennis. The gymnasiums will be accessible from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and a one-day pass can be purchased for entry.

At the Mapo-gu Community Sports Center, visitors can enjoy a range of facilities including a gym, bowling alley, table tennis area, and badminton courts. This center is particularly notable for hosting Seoul’s first public bowling alley, offering a unique experience for families, friends, and loved ones to hear the delightful sound of bowling pins crashing.

The Yeomri Sports Center and Seongmisan Sports Center feature badminton courts available at an affordable rate of 3,000 won per adult. Similarly, the Mangwon Interchange Sports Center provides access to its gym and badminton courts for the same fee of 3,000 won.

Mayor Park Kang-soo expressed his enthusiasm for the initiative, encouraging residents to make the most of the district gymnasiums during the Chuseok holiday. He emphasized that these facilities offer a wonderful way to spend quality time while engaging in healthy activities. Mayor Park also recommended a visit to the Mapo-gu Community Sports Center to experience the joy of bowling in a communal setting.

Regular operations at these gymnasiums will resume on September 14th and 15th, ensuring that residents have ample opportunity to continue their fitness routines beyond the holiday period.
