Dhruv Jurel Lauds Jasprit Bumrah’s Adaptability on Different Pitches

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], September 19 (ANI): Indian wicketkeeper-batter Dhruv Jurel heaped praise on Jasprit Bumrah, highlighting his remarkable “adaptability” and versatility in mastering every kind of pitch.

Bumrah, a key player in the ongoing Test series against Bangladesh, showcased his prowess as the first Test commenced at Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium today.

Speaking on JioCinema, Jurel emphasized Bumrah’s unique ability to adjust to varying conditions. “Maintaining performance across different tracks is no easy feat. Sometimes he bowls long spells; other times, it’s a quick two-over spell when the captain needs a breakthrough,” Jurel explained.

“Injuries are frequent for fast bowlers like him, yet Bumrah consistently delivers by taking crucial wickets. That’s what sets him apart,” Jurel added.

Jurel noted that while many bowlers prefer specific conditions that suit their style, Bumrah’s adaptability transcends these preferences. “Whether it’s a pitch conducive to seam or one favoring spinners, Bumrah adapts brilliantly,” he said.

Reflecting on Bumrah’s memorable delivery during the Test series against England, Jurel recalled the scorching yorker that bowled Ollie Pope, uprooting two stumps. “I wouldn’t have fared better than Pope. I would have probably reacted the same way,” he admitted.

Bumrah’s statistics reinforce his impact: in 37 Tests, he has claimed 159 wickets at an average of 20.69, with his best figures being 6/27. Notably, in nine home Tests, he has taken 33 wickets at an impressive average of 16.36, with best figures of 6/45.

Turning to the current match, Bangladesh won the toss and opted to bowl first. India’s top-order crumbled to 34/3. Opener Yashasvi Jaiswal (56 off 118 balls, nine fours) and Rishabh Pant (39 off 52 balls, six fours) built a vital 62-run partnership for the fourth wicket, stabilizing India’s innings. When India was struggling at 144/6, Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja (86* off 117 balls, ten fours and two sixes) formed a formidable 195-run partnership, concluding the day at 339/6.

Bangladesh’s Hasan Mahmud emerged as the standout bowler, claiming 4/58 and dismantling India’s top order by dismissing skipper Rohit Sharma (6), Shubman Gill (0), and Virat Kohli (6).

The playing XI for Bangladesh includes: Shadman Islam, Zakir Hasan, Najmul Hossain Shanto (c), Mominul Haque, Mushfiqur Rahim, Shakib Al Hasan, Litton Das (w), Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Taskin Ahmed, Hasan Mahmud, and Nahid Rana.

India’s playing XI features: Rohit Sharma (c), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant (w), Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, Jasprit Bumrah, Akash Deep, and Mohammed Siraj.
