40th Foundation Day of Mahila Congress Celebrated; New Membership Drive Launched

Hyderabad, Sept. 15 (NSS): The 40th Foundation Day of Mahila Congress was marked by a grand celebration at Gandhi Bhavan on Sunday, under the dynamic leadership of Mahila Congress president Sunitha Rao. This milestone event saw the official launch of a new membership drive aimed at invigorating the ranks of Mahila Congress.

During the celebration, Sunitha Rao paid a heartfelt tribute to Indira Gandhi, often revered as the Iron Lady of India and the nation’s first female Prime Minister. Rao reminisced about how Mahila Congress was established four decades ago, following the guidance of Indira Gandhi and the directives of the All India Congress Committee (AICC) Women’s Wing. This foundational history was highlighted to underscore the organization’s deep-rooted commitment to women’s issues.

In her address, Sunitha Rao passionately reiterated the Congress party’s enduring dedication to women’s empowerment, financial independence, and awareness. She pointed out that the party has consistently provided women with opportunities to assume leadership roles in politics, thereby fostering an environment of equality and empowerment. This long-standing tradition aims to break barriers and create a more inclusive society.

The newly launched membership drive for Mahila Congress comes with an accessible registration fee of ₹100. To streamline the joining process and encourage wider participation, an online registration portal has been introduced. This digital platform is designed to facilitate easy enrollment for women eager to champion women’s rights and political empowerment.

This event not only celebrated a significant milestone but also paved the way for future endeavors aimed at strengthening the role of women in politics and society at large.
