KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 18 (Bernama) — For the 2024-2025 season, the four Malaysia League (M-League) clubs participating in the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) and ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) tournaments will be permitted to include up to 12 foreign players in their squads.

The Malaysian Football League (MFL) announced this decision following a consensus from league partners and the approval of the MFL Board of Directors. This move aligns with the AFC’s new regulation allowing unlimited foreign player registration for club competitions under its jurisdiction.

In detail, Super League clubs Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT), Selangor FC, Terengganu FC, and Kuala Lumpur City FC will benefit from this amendment. Previously restricted to 10 foreign players, these teams can now register up to 12 foreign talents, enhancing their competitive edge in both AFC and AFF top-tier club championships.

This adjustment is expected to elevate the quality and intensity of Malaysian clubs in international competitions, potentially leading to better performances and higher rankings.
