Iraqi Clubs Cycling Championship Concludes, Unveils New Talents

Nineveh – INA

Ali Hamid, the head of the Iraqi Central Cycling Federation, commended the invaluable contributions of the technical committees and supporting bodies that significantly contributed to the successful conclusion of the Iraqi Clubs Championship for youth and juniors. This prestigious event was hosted in the picturesque Sulaymaniyah Governorate.

Speaking to the Iraqi News Agency (INA) on Wednesday, Hamid highlighted that the fourth and final stage of the championship was marked by intense competitions spanning four consecutive days. This fierce contest saw Al-Hadba Club clinch first place in the youth category, followed closely by Al-Sinaa Club in second. In the junior category, Dohuk Club emerged victorious, with Al-Hadba securing second place and Al-Hudud taking third. The races were diversified, encompassing the individual general race, individual time trial, and team time trial, with enthusiastic participation from clubs across northern, central, and southern Iraq.

Hamid emphasized that the technical committee, alongside supporting bodies in Sulaymaniyah Governorate, Olympic Committee representatives, security forces, referees, and the Competitions Committee, played pivotal roles in ensuring the tournament’s success. The challenging terrain demanded exceptional physical and technical prowess from participants, adding to the tournament’s prestige.

Moreover, Hamid confirmed that the championship unearthed a talented group of players across all categories. These athletes have been selected to participate in intensive training camps over the next two months, preparing for the upcoming Arab Championship scheduled for November. This event will also be hosted by Sulaymaniyah Governorate and will feature participation from more than 15 countries. Concurrently, the General Assembly meeting of the Arab Union will convene on the sidelines of this championship, further underscoring its significance.

By integrating precise coordination, exceptional technical execution, and comprehensive support from various committees and authorities, this year’s Iraqi Clubs Championship has set a new benchmark for future events. The emergence of new talents promises a bright future for Iraqi cycling on both regional and international stages.
